Is it an American phenomenon to have a formal dining room that nobody
ever sits in? The artist admits that she is guilty of not using her
dining room either. "Too often we just sit in the informal kitchen nook.
It's a much cozier space to eat a meal together." Rubenstein is a visual
artist who sees the humor in everyday things. Her quirky imaginary
dinner party with life-sized cardboard people (based upon her Art
Brats/Cafe Society characters) will fill the vacant chairs in a dining
room setting. Who will bump elbows with whom? Ms Behavin', Major
Catastrophe & Ms Fortune are a few names on the guest list. Original
still life's and portraits of the twelve invited dinner guests will be
displayed. All work is for sale.
